Episode 1 - part 2 - The Cocktail Party

So onto the cocktail party, and Zilda is working the room, sussing out the girls thoughts on Sam. Good tactics…. Nina and Jasmin can already see things are going to get interesting.

Its explained that receiving a red rose means you can stay for the Bachelor to get to know you better. They are also told that ‘some of them will be going home tonight’… Dun dun daaaahhh. Then XX the announcement of the white rose is made revealing a twist from previous series. It means that you left an impression on him. Jasmin is hopeful. But this year it means the lady that receives the white rose has the power to ask him on a date whenever they choose.

The competitive streak comes out, when Sam enters the room with Jacinda managing to scam the first chat, ‘she’s going to be a handful’ not the best compliment. Are you a hurricane 90% of the time, he asks? Either way he likes the vivacious energy.

Reshael has a great attitude when asked her opinion about the other girls when cornered by Sandra with Rachel and Bec feeling the tension. I have a feeling this is going to come up again.

Rachel is 2nd to have a chat with all watching his every movement. Some of the ladies are waiting for him to approach and it worked for Heather.

He pulls her aside and tells her he liked her awkward ‘blokie mates’ comment and calling him pretty – well sort of like it. They have a fantastic chat about supr heros and growing up. Personally I’m pretty impressed with her keeping it real about having a genuine friendship connection that can grow into something more. Heather is my 2nd will make it long term candidate.

Whilst Reshael is chatting with Sam Sandra starts working the room and discussing the awkward situation from earlier. Bec says that Sandra is exaggerating the details, but non the less Sandra feels it necessary to make an announcement to the whole crowd of ladies rather than discretely 1:1. This is what puts me off hanging out with large groups of women, I’m not going to say anymore than that.

Sam is having a chat with Tessa during the confrontation so misses the drama.

Then its Snezana’s turn for a chat who quite rightly states that its going to take more than good looks to get her hearts attention. Wise Lady. Then she comes clean and declares that she has a 9 year old daughter and he admits he hadn’t thought about one of the ladies having children already. We’ll see how that turns out.

Laura is talking a lot about anal glands and Tessa wasn’t sure how her chat went with Sam as she is uncomfortable in her dress, (I have wondered if they get much say in them).

Wonderfully Sam states that he’s focusing on the flow of conversation, if there us humour and connection rather than what they are wearing and their hair. Hoorar!!

Jessica is feeling uncomfortable. Whilst Sarah is doing yoga in her elegant dress and not taking herself too seriously. Rarely we actually get to see Sam declare that he wants to spend more time with her. There is my 3rd long term candidate. He runs off to get a red rose ahead of the announcements.

This gets those that haven’t had a chat nervous and Jacinda is very encouraging to those ladies to take matters into their own hands.

Whilst Bec is having her chat Tessa gets changed and interrupts their chat. A little unfair. But then it gets worse with everybody joining them on the couch, Bec bails and misses out on regrouping in time to finish her chat. To be hobest im not sure how I would have handled that situation given all the tension and anxiety going on. Hopefully he will remedy the interruption.

Onto Sandra’s 1:1, and Sam state that her ‘energy blew him away’. She demonstrated to him that she is nervous around guys and he appreciates that possibility.

The issuesing of the white rose is discussed whilst the last of the girls have their 1:1’s the guessing goes on and he sneaks in to get it. He walks past one bunch of girls and approaches a 2nd group and issues to…… actually other than Sarah im not sure who I thin he’s going to pick… there are some ladies that we haven’t seen much of yet such as Madelina, Joni, Jessica, Krystal and Zilda.

Heather is given a beautiful heartfelt speech from Sam and i‘m starting to like this man. Seems he has it clear and in perspective.

What is interesting is seeing those that congratulate her Sarah with the red rose, Rashael, Rachel, Bec and I think Snezana and those that are upset by it.

Laura, ebru, Zilda, Sandra, Joni and Krystal seem a little put out, but it could just be where they were when the cameras were on them.

At the rose ceremony Sam states he’s interested in the girls being themselves. Good man.

The 2 girls going home are Zilda the model and Jessica the young quiet one.
